About the project

GREENYOU(th) aims to foster the development of eco-friendly cities by empowering young people to become active eco-citizens. The project focuses on cultivating an eco-conscious mindset and equipping youngsters with the skills to drive positive environmental change. By engaging in the green transition, young people will act as catalysts in promoting sustainable cities and communities, starting with their local municipalities.

Through this initiative, youngsters will not only learn how to live sustainably but also share this knowledge with their peers, families, and communities, amplifying the impact. By actively participating in environmental initiatives, they will develop the responsibility and confidence to shape a greener future for Europe.

Goals of the project

Active Citizenship

The project’s goal is to build a community of youth active citizens who are dedicated to environmental protection. By organizing hands-on activities, YP will gain practical experience in creating greener communities, while learning the importance of environmental conservation. This will help them develop self-confidence, a sense of agency, and prepare them for the challenges of adulthood by fostering a deep connection with nature and social responsibility.

The project aims to enhance the quality of youth work (YW) in environmental and active citizenship fields, addressing challenges related to recognition and validation of YW practices. By providing training and resources for YWs, the project will build competences in raising environmental awareness and fostering youth active citizenship, contributing to the recognition and value of YW across Member States.

GREENYOU(th) aims to empower young people to lead sustainable lifestyles and actively shape greener, more inclusive cities. By fostering collaboration, raising environmental awareness, and equipping youth with hands-on green skills, the project creates a platform for real impact. Through an interactive hub, tailored educational resources, and partnerships with municipalities, young participants will identify local environmental challenges, co-design solutions, and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of urban spaces toward a more sustainable future.

Urban areas are at the forefront of today’s climate and environmental challenges, accounting for the majority of resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. As existing policies struggle to keep pace and the energy crisis deepens, the need for urgent, transformative action is clear. GREENYOU(th) responds by empowering young people to take the lead in Europe’s green transition—equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and awareness to build more sustainable and resilient communities.
